Renowned Actor Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Known For Roles in The Middle and Friends, Dies at 60 Years Old.
US actor Pat Finn, who appeared in beloved television series including Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has died aged 60.
The comedic improv actor died at home in Los Angeles recently following treatment for a cancer diagnosis beginning in 2022, per news outlets.
"Pat saw everyone as a friend - solely future friends he hadn't encountered," his family said in a statement.
They noted that he had "lived his life fully - with joy and exuberance".
An Extensive Television Career
His initial on-screen part was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he appeared as the brother of the main character.
He also had a recurring role on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.
He played the part of a party host named Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in the late 90s, playing a social organizer who would assign burdensome jobs to his guests.
In the late 1990s and early 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on a variety of well-known programs, like:
- The King of Queens
- "Friends"
- "That '70s Show"
- "House"
He was most recognized for playing the character Bill Norwood in "The Middle", appearing throughout eight seasons over nearly a decade.
His cinematic roles encompass It's Complicated (2009) and "Santa Paws 2".
Beyond the Screen
Away from his television work, Finn was an improv performer and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.
He was involved with a six-person improv troupe known as "Beer Shark Mice".
"Pat guided, supported, and advised numerous pupils over the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find a person anywhere who has a bad thing to say about him," his loved ones expressed.
Paying homage, peer Richard Kind remarked there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Perpetually optimistic, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A wonderful father and man," Kind wrote on social media.
The actor is remembered by his partner Donna, his three kids, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
