Uche Sparks Dominant Crystal Palace Triumph at Shelbourne.
Despite embarking on their first-ever continental adventure, Oliver Glasner's side are learning very quickly. Without key players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a comfortable result that all but guarantees them a spot in the Conference League qualifying rounds.
Another three points in their upcoming match against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to secure straight entry to the knockout stages, especially following a prior stumble against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Seize the Opportunity
This occasion offered a platform for some of Palace's fringe talent to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second start since arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a clinical goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a second, finding the net for the second consecutive match.
A Shelbourne side that had concluded their league season proved outmatched even for a mostly second-string Palace lineup. The Londoners were already weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee problems.
Control Established from the Start
Despite torrential rain in Dublin, Palace quickly established dominance. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, allowed Nketiah to lay on Uche for a simple tap-in.
Midfielder Adam Wharton went close minutes later, fizzing a powerful shot over the bar. Nketiah then claimed for a penalty after bursting into the box, but the referee waved away the protests.
Ex-Arsenal striker didn't need to wait long to find his goal, tapping home from a yard out after Uche's effort had hit the post.
Shelbourne were hanging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to avoid a booking for a couple of agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the crossbar with a powerful header from a corner.

The match was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some comically weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.
Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw key players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring with his very first touch, but saw his shot blocked.
Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then blazed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still scope for development in his game.
The only concern for Palace was a late injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, capping an otherwise perfect evening for the visiting side.
